Our March Branch Meeting featured a talk by Jeremy Collyer on Astrophotography, Stars near and far.

Jeremy shared the techniques he uses to create incredible photos of the Aurora Borealis and the Milky Way. You can see the results in the Landscape section of his photography website.

Friday 6th February 2026 - 17:30

Our informal Annual General Meeting was well attended. Mike Onley stepped down as chair, to become research coordinator. Jeremy Collyer volunteered to take on the role of chair. With that change, all committee members were enthusiastically re-elected.

  • Paul Dodd opened and closed proceedings and the meeting was minuted by Liz Roberts.
  • Dennis Saunders gave an update on the branch finances.
  • Mike Onley spoke about what had been achieved during his two years as chair.
  • Jeremy Collyer spoke about continuing branch activities. He invited members to contact him, “by email, phone or in person”, about any changes they wanted.
  • Mike Hayden spoke about an initiative for the branch to evaluate “wearable devices”.

This was followed by a chance for the members to have a chat, or play table tennis.

After the meeting, several members met up at Pizza Monteforte, organised by Emma Brinton.

Trafalgar Choir

Branch Meeting 5th December

We had The pleasure of welcoming the Trafalgar community choir to Mannings Heath at the recent branch meeting.

They sang some delightful Christmas carols assisted by enthusiastic audience participation and the band's own electric piano.

Thanks to Liz for organising the choir, and singing in it! To Paul for providing the mulled wine and organisation, to Joan for the raffle, to Carolyn for the picture quiz and to everyone for being there and helping out.

Season’s greetings,

Mike
